Installing Procreate Brushes

Procreate brushes are some of a growing group of tools that work solely on an mobile device. Procreate is an app for iPad, and that means that Procreate brushes will only work on an iPad with Procreate app installed. These brushes are amazing tools to use with your mobile stylus that will help you start sketching, lettering, and drawing in a variety of effects.

To get started:

  • First, you’ll need Procreate Appinstalled on your iPad. You’ll need iOS 10.0 or later.
  • Next, make sure you’ve downloaded your Procreate brushes and unzipped them.
  • You'll see folder(s) that contain some files ending in .brush. These are the Procreate brush files. You'll be able to install these files by following these steps:

Installing Procreate Brushes

  • Transfer the file(s) ending in .brush to your Dropbox folder. You might want to put all of your Procreate brushes in one subfolder.
    • From your iPad: You can learn more about how to transfer files from your iPad to Dropbox in the section below.
    • From your computer: Log into Dropbox, and copy the .brush files to a folder in your Dropbox account.
  • On your iPad, open Procreate app, and open a new or existing document. Tap the brush icon, then select the brush set where you want your new brushes to end up.
  • Tap the "+" sign in the top right corner of the brush palette, choose "Import," then "Import from."
  • Select Dropbox from the menu, then find and select your brush files and tap "Done."
  • Now you can start creating amazing things with your new Procreate brushes! Just visit the brush set you tapped earlier to view your new brushes.

To Save Files to Dropbox from an iPad

Some apps, like Procreate, use Dropbox as a storage area from which they can access files. Here’s how to save files to Dropbox using ZipApp Free.
  • Make sure you have the Dropbox iPad app installed, connected to your account, and opened on your iPad.
  • In ZipApp Free, after unzipping your files, open the folder. Each file will show an (i) icon. Tap the (i) icon, then tap Open In…”.
  • Tap Copy to Dropbox”
  • Now you can choose a folder in your Dropbox account. When you’ve chosen your folder, tap Save. Your file will be uploaded to Dropbox.
