On-Demand Services FAQ

Can I use a licensed clipart illustration in a design-on-demand template that a customer can use to generate their own design? (e.g. Shutterfly, Templett, etc)

No. This is strictly prohibited in all three of our regular licenses. No one other than the Licensee (the person who purchased the license) may customize a digital or physical end product made from your licensed Asset, whether for commercial or non-commercial use. This includes, but is not limited to, “print on demand”, “made to order” or “download on demand” applications. This means that you may not create a template or other customizable product, which your End Users customize themselves before ordering that customized End Product.

Can I use a licensed graphic to create pre-made End Products that I sell, using print-on-demand services like Printful?

You may sell pre-designed End Products “on demand” (i.e. as your customer(s) order them) using a printer/production partner, provided your customer doesn’t have control over the design (limits apply based on the purchased license). For example, your customer may order a tee shirt you’ve designed, which your print-on-demand provider then produces and delivers to them. Since the customer has no control over the end product result in this case, this usage would be permitted under our Commercial License (for up to 5,000 End Product Sales) and Extended Commercial License (for up to 250,000 End Product Sales).
