On-Demand Services FAQ

Can I use a licensed clipart illustration in a design-on-demand template that a customer can use to generate their own design?

No. This is strictly prohibited in all three of our regular licenses. No one other than the Licensee (the person who purchased the license) may customize a digital or physical end product made from your licensed Asset, whether for commercial or non-commercial use. This includes, but is not limited to, “print on demand”, “made to order” or “download on demand” applications. This means that you may not create a template or other customizable product, which End Users of that template customize themselves before ordering/downloading.

Can I use a licensed graphic to create pre-made End Products that I sell, using a print-on-demand service?

You may sell pre-designed End Products “on demand” (i.e. as your customer(s) order them) using a printer/production partner, as long as your customer doesn’t have control over the design in a way that allows them to move around/rotate design elements, add or edit text, or personally customize the design (limits apply based on the purchased license). For example, your customer may order a tee shirt you’ve designed as a pre-made End Product; next, your print-on-demand provider produces and delivers that End Product to your customer. Since the customer has no control over the end product result in this case, this usage would be permitted under our Commercial License (for up to 5,000 End Product Sales) and Extended Commercial License (for up to 250,000 End Product Sales).

Can I use a licensed graphic in a design-on-demand template, where customers can only edit text, and the licensed graphic remains completely static?

No; since this use allows another End User customization/control over an end product made from the licensed Asset, it would not be permitted, even if the licensed graphic remained completely static or uneditable. As in the topic above, no one other than the Licensee (the person who purchased the license) may customize a digital or physical end product made from your licensed Asset, whether for commercial or non-commercial use.
