Legacy Fonts - Standard License - License Use Cases

IMPORTANT: This article discusses the OLD Standard License for Fonts for all Font purchases made prior to July 15, 2019. If you purchased a Font after July 15, 2019, this article will not apply. Your receipt will list the license you own, be the proof of the license, and you will be legally bound by the terms of that specific license. Can I use a font to create a pillow/t-shirt/mug/piece of stationery that I sell?

Yes, this is permitted so long as the product you create with the purchased font is an End Product. End Products using purchased font Items must be a unique implementation of the font Item. For example, you may purchase a font and use it to make unique word art, or use a font while creating a flyer for an event. However, it is not permissible to redistribute the original font files in any way.

Can I trademark my logo with a font?

No, You may not register as a trademark a purchased Item or an End Product incorporating that Item.

Can I convert a font I purchase here to a webfont?

No, you are not permitted to use a purchased font as a webfont unless the shop offering the font has provided explicit permission for you to do so.

Can I embed a font in an eBook?

No, you are not permitted to embed a purchased font into an ebook unless the shop offering the font has provided explicit permission for you to do so.

Can I use a font in multiple advertising projects?

Yes, when you purchase a font, there is no limit to the number of End Products or Projects the Item can be used on. Rather, Installable Items like fonts may be used on an unlimited number of End Products and Projects on a one seat per license basis.

Can I use a font as part of my package design?

Yes, you may purchase a font and use it while designing packaging. However, it is not permissible to redistribute the original font files in any way. End Products using purchased font Items must be used in a way that requires time, effort, and skill to produce.

Can I install a font on a server for all of the people in my company to use?

No. You may not redistribute an Item that you purchase on Creative Market. Server usage of fonts is not allowed. However, you may contact the shop owner to see if they will allow it.

No. You are not permitted to embed a purchased font into a theme or template unless the shop offering the font has provided explicit permission for you to do so.

You can rasterize a font you purchased and use it in this way as long as you do not include each individual character.

Yes, you may use a purchased font to create word art.

Can I make each letter of a font into a physical decorative item that I sell?

No, may not make each letter of a font into a physical decorative item. For example, you can create a decorative baby block from the letter G using a font purchased at CM. However, you cannot make a set of blocks using each letter from the font.

Can I use a font in my new logo?

Yes, you are permitted to use a purchased Creative Market font in your logo. However, you may not register as a trademark a purchased Item or an End Product incorporating that Item. See number ten in the license terms. Additionally, keep in mind that third parties can use the purchased font too, even in another logo.
